Viviane Spanoghe

Duo De Groote - Spanoghe

It was not long before the cello and piano duet that Viviane Spanoghe and André De Groote formed in 1981 became a household name in Belgian musical life. The duet unveiled new, unknown or neglected scores, at the same time renewing their conception of the well-loved mainstream repertoire, a large portion of which is available on CD, under such labels as Naxos, Adda, Talent...

The duet has performed extensively in Europe, the United States, Africa and Japan.

... Pianist André de Groote is an exceptional partner. Sixteen years separate the recordings of the two sonatas (Schostakovitch) but again continuity is the key.
Many thanks to Talent/Ronald Dom for re-releasing these recordings – music making as it should surely be; powerful, humane and utterly compelling.
